SPS Hungary

A transformative partner for leading businesses

As the world becomes increasingly volatile, many multinational companies are looking to de-risk their operations, by their locating supportive units – like shared service centers (SSCs) –closer to their home markets. For European companies, Hungary has emerged as a leading choice for near-shoring strategies, due to its strategic location in Central Europe, Western business culture and economic advantages. The country has more than 200 SSCs making it an important hub for multinational operations.

    AN ENGAGED WORKFORCE

At SPS Hungary, workforce satisfaction is considered the cornerstone of customer satisfaction and to this end the company has been recognized with multiple awards, highlighting a commitment to creating a positive work environment, marked by trust and transparency.

A number of key workforce initiatives contribute to this. Continuous training and development opportunities, including the SAP University program and career development program, are helping build a strong pipeline for future leaders. Flexible work environments and programs such as the Coffee Talk Meeting Series and Employee Townhalls ensure effective communication and an airing of employee voices. Activities such as the SPS Running Club and various charity events foster a sense of community and shared purpose among staff.

As a result, SPS Hungary can recruit high-quality staff, with a far lower lead time than other Hungarian companies, while employee churn is relatively low.

For us, workplace wellbeing means creating, supporting and maintaining a positive corporate culture - our aim is to create and nurture an inclusive, supportive leadership and corporate culture. Ensuring the physical and mental well-being of our employees is a prerequisite for this.

Employee satisfaction and the promotion of a positive working environment have been a focus area in our company in the past, while the related activities have mostly existed organically as a grassroots initiative in the life of SPS. We maintained and provided additional support to existing initiatives with a positive impact (community-building events, SPS Running Club, etc.). In addition, we have expanded our portfolio with new programs focusing on the physical and mental wellbeing of employees. We have created the SPS Knowledge Space, which supports the education of our employees on mental health through lectures, trainings and the sharing of useful professional materials. And from 2024, in addition to the existing social and mental wellbeing programs, we have added additional programs to our wellbeing concept called Connect with Us.

As a service centre, our business performance and day-to-day operations depend on our employees being happy, engaged and 'well'. So our Wellbeing program is primarily about retention and creating a pleasant, supportive company culture - but of course we also absolutely feel the positive impact of the program when attracting candidates.

In parallel, Global HR has formed a Core Voice working group with local experts to put equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) and workplace wellbeing at the heart of HR processes and policies. The initiative aims to enable HR experts from countries to share best practices and advocate for priority issues at local level.
